Edinburgh Zoo

On what seemed like the hottest day we'd had since the London Heat Wave of 2013, we made a trip to the Edinburgh Zoo.  Not having been to a zoo in about 12 years, I had minimal expectations.  I remembered a bear and some monkeys and not much else.  So I was pleasantly surprised by the large variety and diversity of animals covered by this zoo.  Also, being newly pregnant at the time and EXHAUSTED ALL THE TIME, the 30-minute walk uphill from the hotel to the zoo in scorching temps of 80-90 degrees was a bit much not too mention the park was much larger than any of us expected and that was ANOTHER uphill climb to loop all the way around (Yes-laugh now. We've been here too long. We'd die if we went back to Houston right now.).  We were also surprised by the choice of food stands & restaurants, and the idea that they don't HIKE up the prices here like back home.  However, with that said, we really have a hard time learning this lesson, but STAY AWAY from the nachos!!! I'm not sure why we can't get that through our heads everywhere we go in Britain.  Oh and always double check that your burger is in fact beef.  It's usually posted when it is, unless of course you want a chicken burger.  I've gone several places and found that my "burger" is some mystery meat that often tastes like a sausage patty.  So just beware.

The slide turned out to be her favorite attraction at the zoo.

There's a koala in there somewhere.

There ya go.

Even the zebras think it's, "soooooo hot out."
